Running Winked at Me

Updated: Feb 26

I've had an affair with running for 30 years.

That's longer than most couples stay married.

It started as a flirtation.

Running winked and asked if I'd like to try its treadmill.

I wondered if we were compatible.

I couldn't even run around the block.

But I was attracted,

And I couldn't say no.

Running dared me to step outside,

It took me places I'd never been before.

Running looked good on me,

And I wanted more.

How far was enough?

It never seemed like enough.

But what do I know about running?

We'll always be good friends.

I wonder how many kilometers you've clocked so far? 😀 Love it!

I just noticed this comment from July 7th. Thank you. A while ago I was asked if I’d run the distance across Canada and I definitely have, several times. I just checked the circumference at the equator as 40,075kms or 24,901miles and I’m confident I’ve done that too. Seems sufficient.

A drawer full of medals and an Ironman tattoo… if all those shoes could talk?!

I’ve often thought that when shoes are donated, they should include a story of where they have been.
