Finding My Marbles

Finding My Marbles is an edited journal illustrated with my photographs. It’s supposed to be a summary of my progression.

Still thinking and trying to say too much.

Tool Kits

Finding my Marbles for website_edited.jpg

My "Tool Kits" have been surprisingly well received by the few special people I have given them to. It makes me realize that I am not alone in my insecurities, and of the healing power of a compassionate ear or kind gesture.

Sister Lauren

A Marble in case you need a spare.

One "L" for Lauren, or Luminosity,

Linen, Life and Laughter.

A Blank because sometimes you need

Courage, Clarity and Zip.

A Rock for your pocket.

Know that you are Loved and Loving.

Your Tool Kit is unique.

It is larger because you are the Paramedic

Of Compassion and Generosity.

Your blank is bestowed with infinite powers

Of Courage, Creativity and Curiosity.

Bad Day Tool Kit

Lots of Marbles because you'll need spares.

One "P" for Penny, or Patience,

Preparation, Presence and Purgatory.

A Blank because sometimes you need

Guidance, Vision and Redemption.

A Rock for your pocket.

Perhaps some poison arrows.

Marbles falling out of ceramic mug.

Finding My
Marbles

I've been Finding my Marbles. They are Beautiful and so are Yours.

I find that Women are too hard on themselves.

Whenever possible, I will tell them

How Wonderful they are.

What is it about men? Where do those confident egos come from? Or is it all an illusion?

Kintsugi

Kinsugi is the traditional Japanese Art of repairing broken pottery by carefully glueing the pieces together with lacquer and highlighting the seams with gold or silver powder, thus restoring its usefulness and adding to its beauty.

In contrast, my "pseudokintsugi" offering uses a $2.00 thrift shop find. Its broken lid was already glued, probably with contact cement, and I've filled the seams with acrylic gold paint. I think I prefer its humble scars.

I respect the traditional craftsmanship of restoring a treasured chawan bowl. I'm not sure how I feel about the intentional breaking of pottery to pursue this art form.

Reminds me of, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it?"

Sometimes the cracks are hidden, but you can feel them.

Marble Worthy

IMG_5166.JPG

I have a sugar bowl collection of marbles.

Each deposit represents a worthy accomplishment.

I don't necessarily remember what each is for,

But I like to take off the lid,

And watch my achievements roll around.
