Horus

Reading about the Egyptian deity Horus is fascinating. There are many variations of Horus and at first I was just looking for the symbolism of The Eye of Horus. Horus evolved into Horus the Protector, not just associated with the Pharaohs, but everyone. The Eye of Horus, or Wadjet is a symbol of his protection, possessing magical powers for healing and restoration.
Horus is depicted as a falcon or a human with a falcon head. Horus the Sky God oversees all. His right eye is the Sun, and the left is the Moon. The stories are a fanciful read. Christian “Mythology” should also be appreciated as a foundation. A recognition of how spirituality evolves through interpretation. Post-It Note to Myself: Symbolism, a rock in your pocket. Something to hold onto. Religious editing.
Corrective Vision
It has been five months since I claimed my domain. I love “I am the Red Herring”. It makes me feel confident. It is catchy, it is ambiguous and I have red hair. We are our own mentors. Make it happen. Thank you for joining me.

Sometimes we need help, and I’ve had many people to thank throughout my life. When I chose WIX as my platform, I thought I could do it all myself. It wouldn’t have happened without Emily Best, goldengrovecreative.ca my website architect. Thank you Emily. It is still a learning experience for both of us and sometimes there are glitches.

On my Home Page, I did suggest bringing your reading glasses. I don’t have any issues reading my text, but perhaps because I know what it says. Some of the “Read on” tabs can be stubborn to open in Closet Art, but you get the idea.
The Comment section is persnickety. I can also be contacted via the Menu Bar penny.youngash@iamtheredherring.com
Or you can leave your name after your comment if you'd like me to know it's you. Thank you, I appreciate the dialogue.
Storytelling
Closet Art is Therapy on Training Wheels. It is nostalgic and safe. Writing about what you know is a good place to start. Being confined to a small canvas for expression. Closet Art evolved into Closet Philosophy where my writing on the back of the canvas became more opinionated. Still not intended to be shared.
Mendeleev’s Closet is “a bit of a scream” Can you see me now?
This is obviously important to me. Jumping to a large canvas and claiming space on the wall. My words exposed for interpretation.
I also thought it was a really good idea. We aren’t all destined for a career in the Sciences. Chemistry is bewildering and “I’ll teach you everything you need to know about chemistry” is not an original line. Find your own words.
My curiosity about toxic elements began while reading about the history of art pigments. I found their character to be more fascinating than memorizing their chemical properties.
Finding My Marbles, “Still thinking and trying to say too much” pretty much sums it up. Realizing I am not alone in my insecurities. We are all busy. Recognition can be as simple as “I like your shoes”.
Message in a Bottle, my favourite and most active space on my website where subscribers are notified of new blogs or reminded to return to previous galleries. I can feel my heartbeat.

I think I will reply to my three comments with a comment of my own. Thank you Pauline. I wish I knew how to swish paint as well as you. We’ve had discussions about sunsets and it’s still on my mind as blog material.
Thanks Marko. Vision is an interesting concept, and we constantly need protection from ourselves.
Thanks “mish mash”. My calling Egyptian Mythology a fanciful read is disrespectful of one of the greatest civilizations on Earth with beliefs spanning thousands of years. Is it fanciful to believe in an omnipotent, all seeing, all caring presence, symbolized by a falcon with the gift of flight and clarity of vision.
Ah, Penny, my friend, the “thinker”! You paint with your words, your thoughts. I use a brush & paint; now I’m “thinking” more about my brush strokes. What am I saying with each swish of paint? Pauline
Pondering as to whether Horus can protect us from ourselves… both eyes open.
In my way way back memories...all those Greek and Roman gods and old beliefs! Now a just a Mish mash!
