Forest Spirits

Some trails are mystical.

Not necessarily because they have ancient trees,

Or incredible beauty,

But because they have a spiritual presence,

Apparent to those who can feel it.

Sometimes I imagine Shape Shifters.

Like the very curious salmonberry pickers,

And their enthusiastic salutation.

      “How are you kids today?”

As if they were Forest Elves,

And had been there for a thousand years.

Or the Old Golden Lab,

Taking itself for a daily walk.

The very much present Wilson’s Warbler.

Its brilliant yellow

Illuminated by the sun.

Singing its heart out

For those who will listen.

I was there and felt a hitch-hiking little soul riding on my shoulders and whispering quiet secrets. Thank you for taking me back to that special place.

I am still getting used to my website myself, and learning ways to increase my readership. I love that there has been interaction with Forest Spirits. Please do express yourself. Thanks for being a part of my journey.

Oh, my, the faces in that root - alligator, bear, Indian Buddah, elephant, whale, monkey, gekko, tortoise...

Surely there must be forest spirits, winding in & out of the ancient roots & branches & wrapping themselves with due covered moss. We think it’s the wind, but maybe it’s the forest spirits chattering away!
