I
Am the
Red Herring

© Joseph R Tomelleri
Red Herring: Usually referred to as something that is misleading, or a distraction from an intended path.
Our lives are interconnected.
Sometimes we are the muse, and sometimes we are the red herring.
Perhaps not intentionally, in a malicious way, but our actions might change or mislead someone else's intended path. Intention is a curious allusion.
We are our own mentors.

I discovered Joseph R. Tomelleri while looking for a fish print for my
"Measuring Up" collage.
I purchased a 'Canary Rockfish' from his gallery, and since I had never planned to share my "Closet Art", this was my way of framing it.
I have had more compliments about this collage than any other (and of course it is not for sale because it has my Mom’s scrabble tiles).
The Canary Rockfish is the real reason for its appeal and that is because of Joe Tomelleri’s amazing talent.

His Pacific Herring is also essential for
"I am the Red Herring".
Why am I the Red Herring?
I think it's catchy, it’s ambiguous...
and I have red hair.
Curiosity is my best advice.

In the beginning...
It started as a joke.
My neighbour, Norma, and I decided to
have an art workshop but we wouldn’t invite anyone
creative so we wouldn’t feel intimidated.
That was 2020, when many people were trying to find
distractions from reality.
I discovered that art with commentary was very therapeutic and I haven’t stopped creating.
It’s time to share.

Philosophical wanderings through the periodic table of elements. The synaptic journey of my curious brain cells, an umbrella for dialogue. Bring your reading glasses.
Chemistry is bewildering. It seems like an invisible bag of tricks.
Not all elements are nice. I want to know their character, the company they keep and their influence over the ages.
It is a bit of a scream:
“Can You See Me Now?”
